October in SE/Southern states
Hi
I would like to know if October is a good time to visit the following places:
Washington DC
Virginia
North and South Carolina
Georgia
Alabama
Mississippi
Louisiana
It would most likely be mid October, although dates not fixed.
I know that June-Nov is the main hurricane season, so would like to know whether October would be a good time to visit these areas? Is the hurricane season over by then?
We would be driving all of the way with stop overs along the way.
Any advice you can give on the weather at that time of year would be good and what to expect by visiting these areas in Fall.
Also, are there any places that are a 'must visit' in these areas at that time of year?
Thanks

just depends on what youre looking for.Im in Atl and to me Oct is the best weather all year.the trees turn in the mtns beginning in 2nd week, and hit atlanta awek or so later. My Fav ride is from Dahlonga (which is a nice tonw) to drive up to Suches and over to Helen,ga. If youre planning on staying there are sevarl nice hotels/BB further North in Brasstown Bald or Hiawassee--where Lake Chatuge is.Nice resort on the lake.I recall reading a recent trip rport about north Georgia.Weather is usually dry, temps here in Atl will be highs in 60s/70s, lows in 50s,of course cooler in mountains at night.daytime temps should be just a bit cooler than Atl.To me i like the mthns in ga,over al,miss and La, but they all have their nice sides. You dont say where your driving from??

October is about the most beautiful month of the year ANYwhere. It is particularly beautiful on the seacoast, in my opinion--and anywhere else you mention. There is no way anyone can tell you about hurricanes--they are just a fact of life, and the season "ends" November 1.
