Yes, go and cheer on the runners!
I went to see a friend run in the Chicago Marathon last month, and he said all the people cheering along the route made him feel like a rock star.
Spectator support really does make it a better experience for the runners.

Looks like it wil be nice and cool this year. For some reason even though it's November it seems to be hot (50's) many Marathon weekends. This year looks like more seasonal temps - and eaiser on the runners.
Good luck to all the runners.

Have a great time and good luck to all. Every year, it's one of the City's best days - just so much fun for the runners and the spectators.
My best friend just moved to an apartment on First Ave, overlooking the race, so we will be hanging out on her terrace, cheering on the racers and enjoying our bagels & lox. Later we will probably move over to Fifth and watch there for a while, on our way home to the Upper West Side.

My son told me that one of the biggest thrills about running the race was having complete strangers call out his name and saying, "You can do it!" So come on out and join in the fun! It's really one HUGE block party!
Hi GoT! Where will we be? I'm not sure yet. I'm waiting for Andrew to tell us where to *be* - he's going to do that electronic notification thingie again so that way we can run all over the City, looking for him, lol.
I'll send you an email. When are you leaving home for New York?

seetheworld,
Runners that want the crowd to cheer them on by name, write their names on their shirts or arms.
My wife has run NY and she agrees, that having the spectators call out your name is a great motivator.
Good Luck to all Fodorites running NY!!

One more day!!
My DH got to go this year to the Javits Center to meet our son for the race number pick up (I'm stuck at home working on a presentation )
I think tomorrow I will be carrying blue balloons so that the pack of DS's friends will be able to follow as we make our way through the crowds.
Good luck, runners!!

RACE DAY!!
I just spoke to my son, who is at the starting area - he sounds GOOD!!
I'm a nervous mom, at the moment, and about to head out the door!
I'll post some pictures later.
It's a great day for running!!
Good luck GoTravel and Andrew (say hi to Lance for me, lol).

What a day!
I'm beat, but I just wanted to tell you that Andrew finished in 4:02:31 with a 9:15 pace time - 33 minutes off his last 26.2 mile Marathon. His goal was to come in under 4:00 - so close!
He looked *tired* at mile 17 (caused me a bit of concern) and hit the *wall* between miles 22-23. He really pushed himself this race, with no "hot dogging" when he saw us.
I'll post a few pictures sometime this week.
Thanks to all those who came out to support the runners! It was a great day and we are so proud of our boy!
