i sleep at home with a fan going just for the "white noise". i read on a post here that i might want one at big sur river inn, and that's where we're staying -
does anyone know of a compact machine or device that can be carried in luggage?
i wouldn't ask, but the pillow-post...
oh, Patrick - i can't wait to see what ideas you have!
thanks -

Only thing is, by pic's on website, Big Sur River Inn doesn't have radios or tv's. Sometimes I use tv on no-station channel and turn bright all the way down to dark...
Maybe a small radio wouldn't take up too much space in bag.

Also - Target sells these noisemakers that have 6 different sounds. They are made to plug in or use with batteries for traveling.
Last I knew they sold for about $18.
There sounds are Ocean, White Noise, Rain, Waterfall, Heartbeat, and some outdoor noise with crickets. (not exact names, but you get the idea)
I had one of these for a while living in a city area (to drown out freeway noise at night). It worked well.

I heard about the Travel Soother from Sharper Image on this web site, and I love mine. It has a clock, timer, light, thermometer, and a variety of sounds: city, roadside, steam train, ebb tide, fog horns, dockside, oceanside, surf, rain, brook, waterfall, rainforest, woods, thunderstorm, everglades, fireside, wind chimes, summer night, aviary and heartbeat.
