Nightlife In Kona/Kohala/Waimea area?

What are your favorite places to visit after dinner? Interested in live music, live performances, etc.

In Kona your choices are Durty Jake's (loud music, and avoid eating there), the Windjammer Lounge at Royal Kona Resort, and occasionally Huggo's/On The Rocks. The latter two offer some great jazz and local Hawaiian music.

In Kohala your choices are limited to resort restaurants. The Mauna Kea offers some great live music

Sorry, I hit the post button by mistake..

The Mauna Kea offers some great live music, as does the Orchid (Brown's Beach House). Further up the coast is Bamboo Restaurant in Hawi -- some truly wonderful Hawaiian slack guitar, if you're into that kind of music.

Fdecarlo, thanks for the tip on the Hawaiian Slack Key, my favorite music........ I will definitely make a note of that for my next trip. I could listen to Ray Kane, Gabby, Keola Beamer, etc. 24/7!!!

Ask around and see where Steve Bess is playing in Waimea. I think it's the Parker Ranch Grill. He does great old style Hawai'i music.

For Hawaiian music, catch slack key guitar master John Keawe:
Kona Village Resort -- Mondays - 6:00 to 9:30 pm telephone- 325-5555

4-Seasons Resort -- Tuesday and Thursday - 6:30 to 9:30 pm telephone - 325-8000

Bamboo Restaurant -- Twice a month - 6:30 to 9:30 pm- telephone - 889-5555

Kings shops at Waikoloa -- Every 2nd Sunday - 4:00 to 6:00 pm telephone - 886-8811

And members of the Lim Family (for traditional Hawaiian music and hula) perform at the Hapuna Prince Hotel regularly.
