nightlife and shopping in Seattle!
hi there, i'm new to this forum but have been peeking around for ideas for an upcoming trip to seattle-- 2.5 weeks in june. we have decided on 2 day trips (woondville + whidbey) and tons of restaurants (so many to choose from), but i can't seem to get much info on NIGHTLIFE and SHOPPING, my two favorite pastimes after eating out!! mainly any cool bars with creative cocktails and a good vibe, good concert venues (i'm not as interested in dancing/nightclubs), quintessential seattle night on the town type stuff. as for shopping, i'm just wondering what the good districts are, and if there are any specific stores to hit (other than pike place market and everything there!!!). thanks so much for any suggestions.

There's great shopping all around downtown! Start with Nordstrom and Macy's for department stores. Pacific Place and Westlake Center for downtown 'malls'. There's Old Navy, Banana Republic, American Apparel, all those types. And the more eclectic boutiques scattered around mostly on 1st & 2nd Ave just north & south of the Market.
You can check who's playing at Crocodile, Tula's, Triple Door, or Jazz alley.
There's lots of bars... again around 1st & 2nd Ave in Belltown. Wann's, Black Bottle, Spur, See & Sound, etc.

Seattle has a great cocktail scene. Downtown, try Zig Zag, Vessel and Spur (Spur has great food as well). Capitol Hill, Licorous and the Tin Table. Many, many more good ideas here:

For shopping, the retail core of downtown as described above has all the same shops and designers every city does. If you're more interested in boutiques try Ballard Avenue in Ballard (esp fun on Sundays, when the farmer's market is going), the area around Fremont Ave/34th and 35th in Fremont (Saturday flea market here), and 1st Ave from Belltown to Pioneer Square. Pike and Pine Streets going up Capitol Hill east of downtown has a bunch of interesting shops as well.

I like having cocktails at the back bar (not the front bar) of Bastille in Ballard.
Ballard has some great boutiques, too, as Christy mentioned.

In Capitol Hill, I also enjoy getting drinks at Quinn's.
