There are 8-10 of us going to N.O. for my husbands 65th birhtday early in June. I know we probably can't get a facility that will handle all of us but wondering about a B&B perhaps that has 4-5 bedrooms that we can rent. We'll be there 3-4 nights. Alternatively maybe a suite hotel with a couple of bedrooms that people can share but that would be last resort. Coming from Canada so dollar conversion makes it a little pricey so a budget, clean, good location place would be really great. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Well, you picked the right time to come here if you're looking for a bargain, summer! You might be able to get something nicer than anticipated for that reason. The Soniat House is very nice in the French Quarter. There arent many B&B's in the French Quarter, but Soniat house is one. Lafittes Guest house on Bourbon should have pretty nice rates in June and they can definitely handle a party of 10. Oh, The Villa Convento is one of our biggest bargains. Its a small hotel on the quiet end of the quarter and they have some large rooms with lofts that are perfect for larger groups. The Cornstalk hotel on Royal is nice and its a B&B with about 10rooms or so total. Bon Maison Guest house on the quiet end of Bourbon st has like 3 suites and 2rooms and definitely are not expensive. I really think youll be surprised what a bargain New Orleans hotels can be in the summer time. I'd call some of the more expensive places first before I settled on something from the budget category. Some of the larger ones may still get conventions in June, but the mid sized hotels like Dauphine Orleans, St. Helene, St Marie, Bourbon Orleans, Chateau Sonesta, and Place D'Arms and Provincial should have some substantial bargains in June. I think it would be a great idea to rent an entire B&B, and June is the low season as stated by Jon Eric. You should be able to negotiate/obtain a good rate.

There are B&Bs throughout the city. You can find many of them online at www.bbnola.com, www.marigny.net or by checking out the Louisiana Travel category of Yahoo.

Thanks very much for all your helpful responses. Can you give me an idea of what a reasonable price would be per room for 3-4 nights if we were renting 4-5 rooms? I got a reply back from one that was $99 per room..is that acceptable or do you think I can do better?

I can think of at least three places that can accomodate your group in one room.... Quarter House, Grenoble House, or Embassy Suites. A friend recently got a rate of US$58pp per night for a group of 5 (one huge suite) during Easter Weekend at Grenoble House.

Also, for casual dining, may I suggest Flanagan's Pub on St Philip Street -- you will get very good prices there, even with the US-CAN conversion rate. As well, they'll gladly take your traveler's cheques or credit card.

I've stayed at the Quarter House several times and it is a great option, usually available-- timeshare 'condo' like suites. You have option of 1 bdrm suite (sleeps 2-4 w/ sofabed) or 2 brdm suite (sleeps 4-6 w/ sofabed) for $225 and $275 per night, respectively (but these rates were during Jazz Fest and prob. cheaper when you're there). What I liked the most are the amenities-- full kitchen, living room, dining area, washer/dryer, linens. There's a nice small courtyard with hot tub and jacuzzi. Suites are spacious, tastefully decorated, and as if you're at a friend's place.

Convenient location on Chartres between Iberville & Canal St though inconspicuous and easiy to miss.(www.quarterhouse.com). Good Italian is down the street at Bacco.
