new england resort, for a couple with a newly broken foot
We we leaving tomorrow for Hawaii, but my wife unfortunately broke her foot Saturday. We cancelled since the air travel would be hard for her, and it would so lousy to be there and not be able to go in the water or hike or kayak etc...
We're trying to put together a consolation driving trip to New England from Philly at a resort that is in a beautiful location and where I would be able to push her around the place in a wheelchair, or she could use her crutches a bit.
I'm dreaming about reading on a picturesque balcony, good restaurants, maybe a pretty garden, or an easy going trip on a lake boat.
Does anybody have any suggestions?

I'd suggest taking a look at The Inn in Meredith, NH. It's RIGHT ON lake Winnepasauke (spelling?), and in a small town feel. Some shops, and restaurants close by (Harts Turkey Farm Restaurant, fun dinner). You can take a cruise on the lake or drive a bit further north to see Old Man of the Mountain and Indian Head.
There is some outlet shopping in Laconia, the next large town over, and there are usually events for the summer guests, like fireworks, concerts etc.

we were in the exact situation a couple of years ago..no wheelchair but boot..sympathies to you and wife.
we went to the White Barn Inn in Kennebunk, Maine and it was exquisite...
another thought is the Cape Cod area..Ocean's Edge resort and love Chatham Bars Inn..stayed at both..

If you choose southern coastal maine, the marginal walk is wheel chair friendly as is the Rachel Carson Wildlife Reserve.
In Nyc Strolling thru Central Park and being wheelchaired across the Brooklyn Bridge could be fun.
Vegas is very wheel chair friendly.
Or fly to Nantucket MA - plenty of good restaurants and she can have a bumpy ride on the cobblestone streets.
