Need restaurant in San Jose CA
Coming in for a funeral. Staying at Residence Inn South San Jose. Need restaurants for 4 adults 2 children. We like good food but it doesn't have to be fancy and no Dennys, etc. Prefer places that don't have a ton of fried food. Would love a nice family style.
Thank you

The area where the Residence Inn is (San Ignacio and Bernal, right?) is a bit out of the way, but there are some things close by.
Just across San Ignacio is a shopping center with a Sweet Tomatoes in it, which is similar to Fresh Choice - build your own salads, soup bar, pasta bar, etc. There is also a Baja Fresh there.
If you go a bit farther down Bernal to Santa Teresa there will be another shopping center. Emperor Norton's Italian restaurant is there - I haven't eaten there, but I have heard it is good. There is also a Flames Coffeeshop, which is a local chain and pretty good.
If you go a few miles on Santa Teresa, you will come to Blossom Hill, which has a bunch of different places. Mandarin Gourmet for chinese food, Chaat Cafe for really casual Indian, Johnny Rockets for 50s style diner, Armadillo Willies for barbecue. That same center has a Thai place too, but I can't remember the name. Una Mas is a taqueria chain - it is there too. On Blossom Hill is also a couple steak places - Black Angus and Outback. Marie Calendars is also there. In the mall (on Blossom Hill) is a California Pizza Kitchen, Cheesecake Factory, PF Changs, Buca di Bepo and some other stuff.
So there are some ideas. You wont go hungry

Excellent list,november_moon. Lots of choices closeby.
And elnap29 is correct - Santana Row, while full of interesting (tho pricey) shops and tasty restaurants, is nowhere near the south side of San Jose. You may want to visit SR, however, if you're looking for something to escape the suburban boredom of south SJ.

Santana Row does has quite a few good places to eat. Downtown SJ has a bunch of good options too if you are interested in venturing out of south SJ, which really is quite suburban without much of interest for visitors. But since you are coming for a funeral, sightseeing may not be first and foremost in your mind.
Anyway, you've got options. And I am sorry that you have to go to a funeral.

Mandarin Gourmet is across the street from Oakridge Mall. You have a choice of many restaurants at the mall: Cheesecake Factory, BJ's, PF Changs, Buca de Beppo, sushi. There is a Fish Market Restaurant next to Black Angus.
If you'd like to try something local the Trail Dust in Morgan Hill is fun:

Might be too much of a drive.
