Need Hotel Recomendation for Ft Myers / Naples area
Hi! My husband, my daughter and I are planning a long weekend to Florida in early January (after the new years rush). We may fly into Ft Myers. I am hoping to get some recommendations on good resorts to stay at in or around Ft Myers (Naples, Sanibel Island, etc.).
My daughter will be 8 months old at the time, so that is something to consider. My husband definitely wants to golf while down there, and I am just interested in lying by the pool with the baby with a big umbrella.
We don't want to spend more than $250 a night preferably.
Any suggestions you can provide are greatly appreciated!

I'm sure you'll get several recommendations from this site. You might check out Lovers Key Resort on Estero Key, which is part of Ft Myers Beach. It has everything you've mentioned and the price range is right.

I was looking for a place for my father-in-law over Christmas, and the Naples Ritz Carlton golf resort was coming back with numbers in that range which is really good. They have a shuttle to their beach resort which is very nice. Can't go wrong with a Ritz.

I think my father-in-law is staying here over Christmas. It is condo-like and I think walkable to downtown Naples:

My family stayed at the Casa Playa in May and were very pleased. Very family friendly condo units. We had 701 and 705. Being north of the pier seemed like a quiet family area. Great unit with kg bed and complete kitchen. Great prices. I can't tell you about the golfing but we were close to everything, check it out.

Kristinesonja's recommendation for Casa Playa is Ft. Myers Beach if you were wondering.
Edgewater in Naples is a great "boutique" sort of choice on a fairly quiet area of beach and just a couple minutes for the restaurants and shops of Fifth Avenue and Third Street.

Try www.redweek.com for accomodations that would have kitchens. We stayed at the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point which has a golf course and is in Bonita Springs but I'm not so sure about the kitchen. It had a beach area and a wonderful pool. Try also www.vrbo.com (vacation rentals by owner).

bonlou, I'm not sure about redweek, but VRBO.com is pretty much a lost cause for anyone wanting an apartment in SW Florida for just a "long weekend" in January. It becomes hard enough to find a rental just for a week at that time of year -- almost impossible for just a weekend.
