Need advice , thanks in advance
Hi ,
I will have 6 days in Orlando, after a business trip, before I fly back to NY . That will be in the last week of August. Myself and my wife wondering if a cruise to the Caribbean is a good idea at that time of the year , or there a better itinerary around Orlando . This will be our first time to Orlando and east cost. Please advice.
Regards

Have you found a 3-6 day cruise out of Port Canaveral for your time frame?
Just know that it will be hottest time of the year in any of the islands.. if you think Florida humidity it bad, it is 20x worse on the islands.
What kind of vacations do you like to take? Activities you like to do?

I found a cruise from 26-30 August out of Port Canaveral. However, Thanks for the tip regarding the islands. We are looking for relaxed vacation and won't mind driving or flying in case needed. I am open for suggestions , even out of Orlando (only in north east)

On one hand, August weather in Florida is the worst of the year with high air temps, high humidity and frequent afternoon/evening thunderstorms. It is also peak hurricane season. However, it is no better and probably worse in the Caribbean. Having said that, Many, many people come to Orlando in the summer and still manage to have a good time. I just wouldn't recommend six days at the theme parks. Make it a few days with some beach time or state park time mixed in.

Have you ever cruised before? What line and ports of call are available for that time?
We are vacationing this summer to the Clearwater Beach area.. it is close to a lot of small beach towns, state parks, boardwalks and lots of great seafood restaurants. It's about 2 hours from Orlando, as we will be visiting MK while we are there.

Meh, honestly I would hold off on the cruise then. I wouldn't recommend your first Caribbean cruise to be a short one to the Bahamas in the sweltering heat. I think you would be better to find somewhere to explore in Florida.
Also agree with the hurricane season comment.. while you will get reduced fares and it is likely nothing will happen; something COULD happen and even a tropical depression storm is enough to ruin the short amount of time you have in each port.

Thank you all. We dropped off the cruise idea , and we're now looking for good itinerary within Florida during that time. I'm planning to rent a car , and drive around once I identify good spots to visit.

I vote for anything with beach on either coast.
Something you will notice. Regardless of the time of year inland has little breeze and gets stuffy.
The ocean gets breezy and very comfortable. Just watch yourself and load up on suntan lotion and limit your sun hours.
The breeze can make hours on the beach lethal. It will feel very comfortable until you come in. Then you may be sorry.
Try to get small amounts of sun during your work breaks to get you skin used to it. It does make a difference.
