Mooresville Question
For those of you who know Mooresville, what is the significance of Trump taking over the Golf Course at the Pointe I just learned about? Is Mooresville and up and coming town or already established from car racing companies? I really never explored Mooresville as it seemed like just a busy highway of restaurants and shopping. I loved Davidson as it was small and more quaint I thought.

BigAl, that was already on the books when you had your last thread going. As Starrs says, it is what he does. The Pointe was in need of help. Half of the people were happy about it, half not.
Mooresville IS the lake. Not necessarily "your" side. It is well established. The race care garages are also there--and have been. NOt sure how you compare Trump and NASCAR, as you seem to be doing.
You do realized that Davidson has a highly respected college as its anchor. AND it has grown and changed immensely also.
Actually, Mooresville on the OTHER side of the highway is quite a cute and quaint town also.

Gretchen, I am not comparing anything just asking questions. Both the race car teams and the Trump casino have Mooresville addresses I believe. I did not know if Mooresville had a downtown or a Main Street. Your answer is a little confusing because you state that Mooresville is "the lake" and then you say the OTHER side of Mooresville is cute and quaint. When you say the Other side, where are you talking about? I passed the Highway heading East for a mile or 2 and looked the same. You can't be talking about the west side of the Interstate because that is the Lake heading towards (My side) as you call it and there is Terrell and Sherrils Ford.(FYI, not my side it is Kasey Kahnes side!!)

I think I missed 115. I might have been on it for a little while. A very nice lady at the NC Nascar Hall of Fame gave me directions from the Museum to Davidson, I forgot if 115 was part of the ride.

Mooresville is a great example of urban sprawl, unplanned/unfettered development & building w/out having infrastructure in place prior to building (all notions of crap). But then much of the Lake is that way - in fact, even the Lake itself is akin to an I-77 traffic Jam in the Summer months... you couldn't pay me to live there...
To answer your question, the Trump acquisition has little bearing on things except perhaps to 'fix up' a suffering golf course which I believe he has already re-named after himself.

For those very reasons I bought on the West side of the Lake. So much more peaceful!! Traffic in non-existent yet if we have to go to Mooresville or Hickory not too far away. Also can get to the Airport quickly now without having to drive on 77.

Yes, Al, we know. You were exactly correct. All those people who spent a million on their lot were wrong on the other side. C'mon. You have bought the exact same thing--just for anyone who is interested.

Gretchen, again you contradict yourself. Your Realtor side comes through again. You generalized and agreed with SanParis about the whole Lake being congested as not desirable because of the congestion and then you say the people who spent a Million Dollars did the right thing.
For those who know the area well, which seems like you do not, the other side of the lake, West Side, is a lot quieter and more peaceful. Traffic is no where as bad. Not even close. Add to that you really should not judge who spent how much as this was their choice. Some don't mind the traffic on the Mooresville side. FYI-There was Millions spent on both sides, many over-paid, but that is for another day.

The question is about "towns", not the lake homes. People who live there LOVE the lake, until they have to get to 'town'. And then they still love the lake. We have MANY friends who live up that way. I really hope that sometime the traffic will be addressed in a meaningful way==for everyone's benefit. I have to spend a LOT of time on i77 at high traffic time and it is head shakingly bad.
I REALLY am glad you finally found what you seem to have wanted for many years.

Actually, SanParis said the "whole" Lake not just the Highway. The west side is so much quieter however I would not mind a small shopping center or 2. Real cute General store though when you get over the bridge onto Sherrils Ford Road. They are clearing a nice area around there now for a mall hoping Harris Teeter will open a store.

I hate to venture anywhere north of 485, even when I go to Huntersville (where my gf lives) I jump off on 115. Where I live, I can walk to everything, w/no problem, I don't have to get in my car & sit in traffic for an hour for anything.

Huntersville IS the bottleneck. I'll tell you our secret for beating the traffic when it starts to slow down at 485. Go ahead and get in the right lanes. The signs say that the lanes end, and they do, but you can sometimes get all the way to the "real" Huntersville exit (23) and bypass a LOT of traffic--all very legally without being a jerk and breaking in line!!
