Michael Bauer's Top 100 Bay Area Restaurant List
For those of us who get the Sunday Chronicle, Bauer's April 2011 list is in it today. There are quite a few new additions and some old names that are making a reappearance (Fifth Floor, Farallon). If you're visitng the city this weekend or are vactioning here now and are looking for some great dining options, pick up the Chronicle today and check out the insert.
I think the online version at sfgate.com goes up in a week or so. Look for it. It is a great resource for those traveling to the city as well as for those us who live in the area.

sf, Even Michael Bauer makes a mistake.
Some of the places you've mentoined as liking are the list, so you your tastebuds might have more in common with his than you think.
Anyhow...just trying to provide a public service. O

I couldn't help but think that the photos of the restaurant interiors should be of assistance to visitors to SF and the Bay Area regarding what to wear as almost all the customers in the restaurant photos are dressed quite casual.

Hi Deb, the SF Chron has become a pathetic newspaper. One of the tv news reporter's said that they were going to begin charging for access to their website in about a month. I sure won't and I imagine many people feel the same way. I too was annoyed about having to click through all the pictures but I did as I was curious about the list.

Hey cpg,
It's not new, but we went back to an old favorite a few weeks ago. Vero is in downtown. Good Italian food with the pastas being the standout. Solid B+.
We hated our first visit to Mayfield Bakery and Cafe, but went again a few months ago and thought that the service had improved greatly and the food was a HUGE improvement. I'd go back again and I thought I'd never say that. B+
Station 1 in Woodside is liked by friends who've been there. It's on Bauer' List. Could be worth a try.
We had dim sum at Taipan a couple or weeks ago and LOVED it. Make reservations as it is packed on Saturday and Sunday. The food is well presented and delicious. We've only been there for dinner before. Dim Sum wins. A-
We hadnn't been to La Bodeguita del Medio on Caliornia St. in a long time. Had a great lunch there. It is consistently good. B+
Hope this helps.

http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/listin...p2011?Submit=1 is the list. It's kind of hard to find, being right there at the top of the page and everything.
Thanks for that link to the LA Times article, too. I've been meaning to check out the Mission Chinese place for a while.
