meeting son at philadelphia international airport

My son is arriving from Paris at philadelphia airport and has a connecting flight to Cleveland. He has a 3 hour lay over, What is the best way to connect with him and are there any eating places at the airport outside the security area?

You can connect with him at baggage claims. Airport restaurants are past security, but there is a Marriot right there at the airport (there is even an indoor passageway connecting it to the airport) that has a restaurant.

You may not really have enought time to do this. coming in from patis he has to go through Immigraton, pick up his bags and then go through customs. This can take from 30 minutes to an hour - and if the plane is late or a several land at the same time - crowds can be significant. Then he has to recheck his luggge for the ongoing flight, pass though security and get to the departure gate at least 30 minutes in advance.

If luck is with him - you may have an hour - if not you may have 10 minutes. I would check the usual on-time records of his incoming and outgoing flights.

I agree that he'll have little or no time...the setup at PHL is NOT good, we stood in line a LONG time. Luckily it's our final destination, I would hwve been concerned if we had to make another flight.

Oh, and if I recall, the international flights baggage area is within a restricted area. He will have to collect his baggage, then get through another checkpoint with a long line before he gets to the open area where you can wait.

The PHL airport is SO spread out he will be lucky to make his connection!! Not really, but I HATE it when we have to connect through there.

I agree w/the above posts. W/ only 3 hours and off an international flight you might find each other and have a a little time. But he will have to stay airside until after re-checking his bags.

It's your son. You have plenty of time for a nice hello. You can meet him after the exit from baggage claim/customs.
