Luxury Hotel with teens and preteens in Chicago

I have been looking at the Four Seasons, Peninsula, Ritz, and Trump. We have stayed at the Park Hyatt before and weren't overly thrilled. I would like a hotel that is very family friendly with a great room and location in downtown Chicago. My youngest dd11 would love the Ritz for being in the same building as the American Girl Place and baking cookies with the pastry chef sounds fun. Has anyone experienced this? We stayed at the Four Seasons in Maui and loved the service there so hoping that the Chicago hotel would be equally as nice. We would need 2 rooms so leaning toward the Ritz as it has 50% off the 2nd room. But the pool doesn't look that great. Can anyone verify what the Ritz pool looks like? If one of the other hotels goes above and beyond with service and friendlness with kids and has a better pool, I would LOVE to know.
Thanks!

The Ritz Carlton Chicago is a Four Seasons hotel.

The Ritz pool is very nice IMHO. The problem you may have is that your 11 yo will be able to use it ONLY during certain hours. All children under 12 can only use the pool during children's hours. Also, all children under 18 have to be accompanied by an adult at all times.

The Trump Hotel has a special program for children called Trump Kids. They get their own robes, cookies, video games, MP3s, backpacks, stuffed animals, etc. I don't believe they have any restrictions on pool use by children. (You may want to inquire).

Both hotels are family friendly. Either one would be fine.

Never stayed at the Peninsula.

We stayed at the Park Hyatt over Memorial Day, but looked around inside of the Ritz Carlton (Four Seasons hotel) and Peninsula since we considered staying at both. Our river cruise also took us right in front of the Trump on the river. I considered booking the original Four Seasons, but didn't look inside the hotel on the trip.

My thoughts-- I wasn't impressed with the Ritz Carlton. It was way too traditional for my taste--too much gold and flowers. The location was good.

The Peninsula, on the other hand, was fabulous. We had drinks at their lounge (at the sofa banquette next to us was Ken Mehlman, the former Republican National Chairman and top GWB advisor). The Peninsula to me had great style and our interactions with the lounge staff were really good. It just seems like a really well-run operation. Plus, you are right off Michigan Ave. in the middle of everything.

The Trump is a little bit further down than I'd like to be. I'd imagine the rooms have great views being right next to the River and near the lake. However, I'd prefer to be closer to the locations of the Park Hyatt & Peninsula. The Trump still had construction going on in the exterior, not sure about the interior.
