Lodging-Myrtle Beach-Oceanfront-Family Vacation-2 kids

Jump to last reply

Hello! I need a lot of help in finding the just right condo/hotel/resort/etc. in/on Myrtle Beach.

My husband and I are mid 30's. Married 12 yrs. 2 Children, 5yr old & 9yr old girls.
We live in Alabama, about 30 mins south of Birmingham.

Our Summer Vacation has always been at Panama City Beach, Florida (since I was a baby & I am carrying on the Tradition). Due to Oil Spill, we have decided to check out the Atlantic Beaches (we have only been to Gulf of Mexico & Caribbean Islands & Mexico).
Family Vacation: We like to be kinda in middle or right by attractions like: mini golf; go-carts; arcades; eating places; etc. -

Lodging Wise--we don't want to be in the middle of "older partying teenagers or college kids". Also, we like lodging that has a BIG POOL or multipule pools & caters both to adults & kids. And we love our kids and some behaving kids also-just not too many (like at nick hotel by Disney World).

NOTE: Our kids are stuck to me and hubby like glue. They don't like kids programs or kids camps. They will not go anywhere (pool, beach, etc) without one or both of us. This is okay with us.

Recap: want condo/resort/hotel/villa on the beach (oceanfront); private balcony looking straight at beach; we would love a BIG POOL or multipule pools-maybe lagoon w/waterfall?; would like outdoor pools; kids pool or kiddie play area; hot tubs; kitchen; 2 queen beds; non-smoking; very clean; etc.

Budget:: would like to stay around $1000.00 or Less Lodging wise. No more than $1500.

Length of Stay: would like to stay 5, 6, 7 nights.

This is where it gets tricky. We are going to drive straight to Myrtle & Check In (about 8hr drive). Then when we Check-Out we want to be able to drive down the coast on hwy 17. Don't know how far-would like to pass Charleston, Hilton Head, etc. & probably rent a hotel room for a night and back to home sweet home. We have 7 days or 6-depending on if we need Sunday to rest before work on Monday.

June or July? I was thinking July. Sometime after the week of the 4th of July.

The Breakers Resort in the Paradise Tower looked nice-little pricey. But want to stay in very nice 4 or 5 star place. So would sacrifice nights if had to.

Another thing, I mostly use www.vrbo.com (vacation rental by owner) to book different condos every year, but would be okay with booking with resort/condo or vrbo-just haven't had time to check. We just decided on this beach. We were thinking somewhere on Florida Atlantic Coast or South Carolina Coast.

Thanks for any and all info. I need to find something quickly because a lot of people are already canceling Florida Vacations and are booking elsewhere.
Kimberley
