Late Night Dining in the Gaslamp (San Diego)?

I'll be arriving in San Diego on Fri night at 8:30 and leave at 6:00 a.m. on Monday. I have all of my meals planned except for my first one. Since I'm staying at the Hyatt in the Gaslamp, I'd love a recommendation for a good/casual spot in the area. Any recommendations? I eat fish and veggies, but am traveling with my parents who are full-on omnivores and we'll eat any style of food.

Briefly considered Nobu but think it might be a little upscale for how I might feel after an evening arrival.

Thanks!

McCormick and Schmicks would work for both of your tastes. It is near by, in The Omni Hotel.

Also - The Fishmarket is close, nice views and good fish. Lou & Mickey's has great steaks, nearby also.

8:30 isn't late for Gaslamp restaurants.

Go here for dessert:

And go to the top of the Marriott for drinks at their outdoor lounge. Altitude Sky Lounge -

Oh, if you like Jazz music with dinner [very good food] try Croce's; run by the late Jim Croces' wife:

Thanks, both. I arrive at the airport at 8:30, so dinner around 10:00 is more likely. I'll check out the Fishmarket...having sushi as an option would be really good.

I don't think it will take you 90 minutes to get to Gaslamp from airport, but I could be wrong.

Just figuring in extra time for getting my luggage from baggage claim and freshening up in the hotel room before heading out for dinner. It's probably a little conservative -- between 9:30 and 10:00 will be most likely.

just remember that SD closes down early than most big cities.
sushi at the Fish Market is excellent and so is the casual oyster bar too.
I like McCormicks too at the Omni..they have a great happy hour menu.
Top of the Hyatt is the place for after dinner drinks and a view that is endless.
Ingrid Croce is one of the nicest people and she is usually working the door.

I noticed the Fish Market closes at 10, so we'll see if I can make it in before then.

Drinks at the top of the Hyatt are definitely on our list!

Thanks again.

Thought I'd check back in to say thank you for the recommendations. The Fish Market closes at 10 and takes the last reservation at 9:45. We ended up saving some time by having my parents pick me up at the airport, and then we went straight to the restaurant (left bags in the car). We were there by 9:00 and enjoyed a great dinner at The Top of the Market. The only bummer was that the Top of the Market doesn't serve sushi ... but the scallop appetizer made up for it.

Thanks again for the tips!

I came in on Friday night and left Monday morning. On Sat, I ate lunch at The Prado (*excellent* fish tacos, and a free cream cheese flan for it being our first visit) and dinner at Oceanaire (totally awesome...scallops were amazing). On Sunday, I had lunch at George's Ocean Terrace (gorgeous view; fish tacos only half as good as The Prado) and dinner at 1500 Ocean (scallops again...just as fabulous as Oceanaire). Based on my limited experience, I was very impressed with dining in San Diego!!

wow..you hit all of my favorites!
Fish tacos and scallops..Point Loma Seafood has the best scallop sandwich if you get back to SD.
George's is great and the ocean during the summer is an underwater park of 60+ feet of crystal azzure water.
Come back to SD and stay in LJ in September..ocean is warm and the tourists are gone and prices drop.

I assume you will stay at a hotel. Go out and eat at a regular restaurant.

NEVER order food from broadway pizza even if front desk recommend it. WORST quality food, bad service and rip off company. I have had horrible experience with them when I ordered it on recommendation of bell desk of hilton bayfront
