Las Vegas-temperatures and taxis
We're in Las Vegas next week visiting from the UK. I have a few incidental questions I hope someone can help me with.
- we have booked a flight to San Diego with South West. Our confirmation doesn't say anything about check-in time. How long before the flight is check in for domestic routes?
-what time would you suggest we leave the Luxor for a 12.05pm flight?
- are taxis available at the hotel door immediately or do they need to be ordered?
-an odd question -I'm aware how hot LV is at the moment so we'll be wearing shorts and strappy tops but are the air conditioned hotels very chilly? Thanks!

Domestic check-in is generally 1 hour prior to the flight. SWA lets you check in online, and since they board in groups according to how early you check in, being early is an advantage!
Honestly, use one of the airport shuttle services for your round-trip to and from the airport. It is less expensive than taxis, and they will arrange a pickup time for you. Go outside at the baggage claim area, and there are several to choose from.
Cabs are EVERYWHERE in Vegas!
www.weather.com will give you the current conditions. Vegas is generally extremely hot in the summer! You might want to bring a sweater or light jacket in case it is too cold in the casinos/hotels for you.

I'd take a taxi. The shuttles are nice but sometimes you end up spending a lot of time riding around to other hotels. The Luxor is so close to the airport -- a taxi ride will be short and inexpensive.

Definately do the taxi with more than 1 person. I would leave the Luxor 2 hours before your flight. Depending on the day, there may be a wait for a cab and possibly a long line at security.
My wife always carries a light sweater for indoors in the summer. Chilly doesn't even come close when you come in from outside. Las Vegas has the finest AC in the world as far as I am concerned.

You might have trouble fitting 4 people with luggage in a standard car taxi. There are some taxis that are vans or SUVs that would work for you. I always go with just my husband, and we stay at center strip, so for the 2 of us, a shuttle is cheaper.
