Lake Powell or RT 12 to Capitol Reef
I am planning A trip to Utah. As of now my itinerary is as follows:
1) Arive in Las Vegas Saturday at midnight.
2) Leave to Zion NP sometime on Sunday.
3) Leave Zion Tuesday morning to Bryce Canyon NP.
4)I am leaving from Vegas back to NY on Thursday midnight.
On Wednesday morning should I travel to Lake Powell or take Scenic Byway 12 to Capitol Reef National Park ?

That's a hard choice and which ever you choose you will see great scenery. Since you are so limited on time, I think Hwy 12 to Capitol Reef, unless you got to Lake Powell with enough time to do the Float trip on the Colorado River on Wednesday.
I'm almost temped to tell you to just spend the time in Bryce or maybe just do Scenic Hwy 12 as far as Boulder, Utah and then drive it back to Bryce as a day trip.
<evil grin> I was a lot of help...wasn't I!

Acturally, I did keep that in mind.
Wednesday if you drove to Page, AZ (155 miles - approx. 3 hours driving time) You could possibly fit in an afternoon float trip or boat tour of Lake Powell. First thing Thursday you could do the short Horseshoe Bend Hike before doing an afternoon Upper Antelope Slots Canyon tour and then driving the 280 miles approx. 5 1/2 hours back to Las Vegas. You don't want to cut things to short.
OR on Wednesday you could drive Scenic Hwy 12 to Torrey (115 miles and 3 1/2+ hours driving time) to Capitol Reef which will give you time in the park if you don't stop at to many of the interesting places along Hwy 12. Thursday you might be able to fit in a short hike before driving the 345 miles back to Las Vegas (5 1/2 hours) Add another hour plus of traveling time if you stop at the Kolob section of Zion National Park just south of Cedar City on I-15.
Both are great choices.

That is impossible to say. People usually have a definite preferrence when it comes to Bryce and Zion because they are so different.
You have such a short time in the area so I'd split the time between the two so you can get a little idea of what each has to offer.
If it matters at all, I prefer Zion.
