Well, I'll be...! A question about traveling the Coast Highway between Los Angeles and San Francisco. Gosh, I've NEVER seen a question about that topic on this Forum!
/heavy sarcasm
You are asking about possibly the most popular road-trip topic on this entire website-- a topic that comes up, at a minimum, twice-weekly on this Forum. Given that you are also talking about two of the most interesting cities in the WORLD, let alone the U.S., and some of the most breathtaking scenery in the WORLD, let alone the U.S., and an infinite number of possible activities, sights, etc., you're going to have to do a little more work yourself.
How long will you have? Do you know ANYTHING about California at all? Why are you considering such an adventure? What are your general and specific interests? How comfortable are you with two- and three-day road trips (since you should devote at least two days to enjoy this journey-- three or four would be much better)?

Since you don't tell us anything it is nearly impossible to give any advice . . . Like: When? How many days for the drive? What sorts of things interest you?
(One is not penalized for using too many words -- so how about filling in some of the blanks )

elberko: To be fair, that thread did sort of go off in a ditch. But yes, some good advice there (ignoring our SD friend)
