la info on things to do

Will be traveling through Los Angeles on our way to Tahiti, we will have a lay over from March 3-5. Any suggestions on what to see or do for this short time. Good restaurants, hotels, and must sees.

Thanks for your help.

Give us a little more please.
What do you like to do besides sleep and eat?
What has captured your interest while you've been reading guide books and doing on-line research?

If you like art, I highly recommend the Getty. The Getty Center easily accessible off the 405, and the Getty Villa is off the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu. You need tickets (they're free) to the Villa. Here's the website for more info:

If you haven't already done so, take a look at the destination page for Los Angelels here on Fodors.com.

Second the Getty -definitely check it out on the web and see if it appeals to you - soemtimes concerts/evening events also -

We were there last month visiting relatives and actually staying in Pasadena but enjoyed a day ride to Santa Monica, driving thru Rodeo Drive, etc on the way, - got to the pier for sunset, parked our car there, enjoyed the sunset and then walked up to the main street and had a nice dinner at Ivy at the Shore

if you plug in los angeles, LA restaurants, etc into the search bar, I think there were a few good threads with recs in the past few months you might find helpful. Enjoy your trip!

Truly touristy sites include Hollywood Blvd., Disneyland, and of course Rodeo Drive for high end shopping. Check out the LA convention center to see if anything interesting is going on.

If you're into astronomy, the Griffith Observatory just re-opened after 4 yr rennovation. it's received a lot of press and is supposed to be magnificent. you need reservations. www.griffithobservatory.org i think.

it's near the hollywood sign up in griffith park, which also has the LA Zoo. it's a cool part of town to check out.
