Kauai Rental

Planning for Christmas 2006 in Kauai and need a place for six adults. Must have three bedrooms, four would be great. Any referrals on places in Poipu?

In all honesty I don't know how many sized rooms they have but the Kiahuna Plantation in Poipu is an nice location. It is on the beach and their rooms are nice and Roy's and Keoki's restaurants are right across the street.

There are 2 vacation rental companies that handle the majority of Po`ipu rentals -- from cottages to condos to "castles":

http://www.kauaivacationrentals.com/
http://www.granthamresorts.com

Both of them have excellent reputations here on Kaua`i.

Kiahuna plantation is mostly 1 bedroom with a few 2 bedrooms. Perhaps you can be flexible and get 2 nearby condos instead of 1 ?

In Poipu I can only think of the following resorts that have 3 bedroom options.

1. Makahuena
2. Poipu Kai (both condos and houses)

Auntie Maria, is there a reason why you didn't also mention www.suite-paradise.com ? They also manage many condos in Poipu. And if I may be curious - are you the same Auntie Maria I listen to in the morning on KKCR ?

Aloha,
Alan

Alan -- yes, that's me. Mahalo for tuning in to the Hawaiian music shows! 8-)

As for Suite Paradise, great condo company...but oski65 is looking for 3-4 bedrooms, and that will probably end up being a house rental, rather than condo. Thus the recommendations for Kaua`i Vacation Rentals and Grantham. Condos, yes -- but they also handle those b-i-g gorgeous Po`ipu houses.

The following is not in Poipu, but in case you're able to go farther afield: http://www.iauak.com/

Stayed there for about a week nearly 10 years ago; very satisfied (but it might be best to have a car). They do have at least one 3-bedroom unit.

Enjoy your trip, wherever you end up.
