I've searched and researched, but still need some NYC help

Looks like I've narrowed our lodging options to Marriott Marquis (299),Casablanca(265) or Paramount(259). All seem @ the same price. OR should I wait til next week and hope for a good deal thru Priceline? Going Nov. 13-16 for daughter & hubby's birthday- both on 15th.Would like to stay somewhere special.Haven't seen a recent review for Casablanca, realize Marriott is Marriott, and ? Ian Schrager in NY tho we love Delano.
Also, is the Sak's outlet Off Fifth, still open? Thanks

Those are pretty steep prices for those hotels IMO. Look at reviews of the Paramount here http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserR..._New_York.html

and then read reviews of your other choices at the same website.

I don't know if this URL will work, but I checked your dates on quikbook & came up with lots of options I'd prefer for under $250/night. The Helmsley Park Lane on Central Park South has park view rooms for $235/night. Have a look at Fodorite Maple's post on staying there last weekend. The Casablanca is listed at $245 for nite 1 & $230 for the next 2 nights for a standard double.

If you want to try Priceline, book something that's cancellable that you'd be happy with, then try for something grand on Priceline.

To my knowledge there has never been a Saks outlet IN NYC. They're at several outlet malls outside the city. For good discount shopping try Century 21 downtown near Wall St or Daffy's with several locations-one near Bloomies.

You might not want to do Priceline since you aren't guaranteed two beds, especially in NY. I wouldn't stay in an Ian Schrager hotel if you have three people... they are barely big enough for two.

For discount shopping, definitely head to Century 21.

But puddy, for those prices, she could get two 3* ROOMS on PL.

I didn't realize this was for 3 in a room. Sorry. Look at the Doubletree suites in Times Square. DO NOT stay at the Paramount unless you're getting a suite.

I agree, go to Century 21. Sadly, it's right next to the WTC site, but in a strange way it feels good to know that life goes on (C. 21 was there before, and still remains standing...)

How old is your daughter? If she's pre-teen or older, I HIGHLY recommend H&M. This "Ikea of Fashion" is currently only located in NYC in the U.S. But they are ALL over. And the clothes are fantastic. Very stylish, "homages" to all the latest designer trends (Marc Jacob look-alike jackets, etc., etc.) Right now I'm wearing a pair of jeans from H&M that everyone thinks are designer, they fit GREAT, and are super comfortable. My favorite yoga pants are from H&M, similiar in style to Hard Tail...you get the drift. And everything is CHEAP. I mean, rock bottom prices. BUT not poorly made. I would do anything to have an H&M in my city!!!

I'd also recommend the Doubletree Suites. We love having a suite!

There is no such thing as a Sak's outlet in NYC (it's spelled Saks) and I wouldn't stay at any of your hotel choices. You'll find better deals at nicer places in the Travel section of the Sunday NY Times.

Um, hilaryg, there's H&M's all over the US now - we've got one in our little mall in SE Connecticut. Based on their plan, they'll soon be as prevalent as Old Navy...so you'll probably get one soon.
