How Bad is the hurricane damage in Florida?

Hi - we're going to Orlando November 10-14th. How bad is the damage from the hurricanes? We won't be going to the beaches at all but did the flooding really do a lot of damage inland??

Are you doing Disney? If so, you won't have any problems. They are quick to clean up. You will notice some damage in the Orlando area, but by November this should only be what is left of major damage, such as roof and sign damage not yet repaired and some trees down on unattended lots. You won't need to worry about flood damage I don't think. I would not cancel your trip!!!!

We'll probably do epcot one day and possibly DisneyStudios/Animal Kingdom another. My son wants to play golf one day and maybe IOA. I could do disney every year and not get bored((I love the nostalgia....) but two teenagers are another story!

I don't think hurricane damage will be a problem at all then. I lived through Hugo in Charleston and it was a lot worse. Although everything was in full swing about three weeks after the storm (electricity, roads), you were left with trees down for years along the interstate. I was actually due to be at Disney Labor day weekend and had to cancel because the park was closed. So, as long as you don't have a very late season hurricane, you are all set.

Have you gone to Universal and Un. Great Adventures with your teens? My teenagers loved the Great Adventures park the best.

I live in Cfl and you don't have to worry about the tourist areas. Most of the flooding is over near where I live, in Seminole County near the St. Johns River.

The attractions are quick to repair things. In a way, Disney IS IT's own government. They will go at any expense to get things up and running.

I'm trying to think of other hotels near the airport. I believe there is a La Quinta and a Crowne Plaza. They are within maybe 3 minutes by cab. There are a bunch of hotels right there along with a ton of restaurants, i just never use them, but they all look nice.

Have fun at Disney. November is a nice time to go..not to hot..no long lines!

Come on down - that's a great time to be in Florida and the theme parks.
As for a hotel near the airport, have you tried Priceline? Check out biddingfortravel.com and see what hotels have been coming up in that area.

cmeyer54,
I just checked biddingfortravel, and a poster got a rate of $33 for a room at the Marriott Airport Hotel in late November. If you've never made a bid on priceline, read the advice thoroughly on the bidding.. website. The deals are worth it.

OK - I give up...where do you find info on biddingfortravel? All I seem to find is Q/A.
