Hotel in Pittsburgh near the Aviary (or the Carnegie, or the Zoo?)

Hello

Well, the "Big Reveal" to my niece and nephew was this weekend (http://www.fodors.com/community/unit...d-8-yr-old.cfm) and they are really excited.

There is a lot to do in Pittsburgh, I had no idea. Current plans are: Aviary (penguins), Zoo (polar bears), Carnegie Museum (dinosaurs) and the Incline. We will be there roughly 24 hours (an overnight) although my brother and the kids live a lot closer so once I leave to drive home they will still have the afternoon to do what they want.

At any rate, I am really hoping the Inn on the Mexican War Streets has room for us. If not, it would be great to stay really close to at least one of our goals. The Inn is apparently very close to the Aviary and the Children's Museum too.

Any other ideas? I looked at the Sheraton and the Marriott, I suppose we could do one of them in a pinch although I'm not sure if they are close to any of the above.

Thanks!

Sorry I just saw your message, but would like to hear how you possibly fit in all those places in one 24 hr period!
Inn on Mexican War Streets? Did you mean the Priory? curious...
If you have not yet gone, you can take the boats from Station Square to NorthShore on game days.
And the NorthShore connector is operating now, (subway).

Hi Steelers

Three in one day, one the next. The Incline would be later the first day and would probably be pretty relaxing/easy. The Zoo/Aviary before that (and the Aviary mostly to see the penguins). They are kids, they have TONS of energy. The boat sounds great too. One more thing might be a tipping point, though. Although they can stay longer than I can, on Sunday, so they can always do that after I leave.

The Inn never emailed/called me back. I finally picked the Priory. Bonus: they have apartments so I got them the apartment and I'm taking a room.

While you are at the Priory, be sure to get to go in and see The Grand Hall, formerly St. Mary's German RC Church.
(I was baptized there...
It's beautiful!

BTW, you will see other penguins at the Zoo.
But, still, don't miss the National Aviary.
And it is close to the Priory.
IF they are staying at the Priory, and have an extra afternoon after you leave, they might want to go over to the Carnegie Science Center, kids would love that place.

Hi

I just checked the times this morning.

If we visit the Carnegie MONH first, then the Aviary... before 5 PM... we have the evening to visit the Incline and wander. I hope Primanti Brothers are nearby.

Sunday morning: Pamela's Diner and the Zoo.

Not sure if we will have time for a boat ride, but we might, especially as it's not running it's more "show up and plunk".
