I am going to frankfurt germany to be with my husband.I am traveling with a military passport and my husbands orders.
What happens when you go thru customs and all at the airport?
Do you go into a long line to get into the plane to travel to frankfurt?do they check for warrants and your background?
when do you go thru customs?here or there?
I really need help i dont know what i need to do before i go or check.if i need to be at airport really early to go thru customs.

please please help me

Not sure I completely understand your question.

You will go through immigrations and customs in Frankfurt when you go and the same in the US when you return.

At the checkin counter for the US airline your passport will be checked against a no-fly list maintained by the US govt. If you are on that list you are in trouble and there is no way to know before hand. The lines should not be too bad and you should get to the US airport about 2.5 to 3 hours early. Just be sure that you name completely matches (middle name not necessary) against the passport, ticket, and the orders.

I am guessing you are not used to traveling. If you are a military wife, I believe that most miltary bases have social services that should be able to help you understand the process of travel to a foreign country. They should be able to give you all the specifics you need to know as they have probably all been there, done that.

It sounds like you are concerned about your son getting arrested either on departure or arrival.

I would also suggest that you contact the base for legal advice in this situation.

I cannot imagine the apprehension you are going through wondering if your son will be arrested.

Getting out of the U.S. is probably easier than getting back into U.S. Not sure what it will be like in Frankfurt.

Your best answers will be found through the resouces on the base.

Possible Troll alert! There is only one other thread for the OP's screen name - how could it be your "sister"? Unless she registered to post just that one thread and then flew off to Germany and left behind her Fodors logon?? And you contacted your sister in the 7 minutes between our two posts and asked her if she remembered??

My understanding is that if you are traveling with orders everything should be reasonably straightforward. If you are a native-born U.S. citizen the odds of your being on the "do-not-fly" list are very low. Even if you are naturalised it should likely not be a problem. If your son is fairly sure he had no outstanding warrants he should be fine. And if the warrant is for a traffic (or even a minor moving violation) it shouldn't be a problem, nor should anything obviously a mis-demeanor (public drunkeness, etc.). Something like non-payment of support might, but even that's not that likely. There will be people telling you what line to be in, and they will be used to less-experienced travellers. Don't make yourself crazy with worry, and try to enjoy the trip. And for an international flight you should be there at least two hours early. More is better, but don't make yourself nuts with it.

janisj, I have a question. What is a troll? I've read some threads and troll's were mentioned, thought it was in reference to one person, who evidently had caused some trouble on this site. Can you clarify?

There were many responses to this question when someone, using your screen name, posted asking about your son who may have an outstanding warrant. Consensus was that he get this clarified and cleared up prior to trip.

The short answer to the other questions - get to the airport 2-3 hours prior to flight, go to check-in at appropriate airport, go to the right gate and then follow everyone else. Read tsa.gov to see what rules are for carry-ons, etc.

False - usually a fake story to gain attention

Outrageous - to stir up contoversy

Sometimes you will see an obvious troll who writes things that are biased, bigoted or just plain ridiculous - to get a lot of people arguing with ech other

Sometimes a poster who is inexperiened/confused/troubled comes across as a troll

You go thru customs and immigration at the airport you land in overseas.

At your departure airport in the U.S. you go only thru a security check.
