Help! I am almost out of the olives I bought in Spain!
I loved the olives that the restaurants served in Barcelona....they tasted different at each restaurant, but I enjoyed them all. I brought some home from the grocery at El Corte Ingles, but they are almost gone.
Has anyone found any similar olives in the US? What would I look for on the label? The olives in the stores that have the bins of "gourmet" olives seem to be Italian, and black, rather than green.

Hi missypie, just don't buy any olives that are from Bari, Italy. I just read an article that the olives have boutolisim (sp) and are being recalled. They are sold under various brands and some are in cans and some in jars. I just read the article and then clicked on Fodor's and saw your thread so couldn't resists even though I know you want olives from Spain. Hope you can find them!

I also suggest The Spanish Table as well.

My husband loves the olives stuffed with anchovies. I know I know. bleck! But they are delicious. Call them and they can help you put a box together.

Do you have a Spanish restaurant nearby that might sell them to you? When we go out for tapas, we usually bring home a tub of olives. We're in the Chicago area, so that probably won't help you, but perhaps you have a restaurant that does the same.

Try La Tienda online. I've ordered olives from them, as well as spices, and their service is very good.
