Help!! Going to South Carolina

We will traveling to the northwest corner of South Carolina in October, staying in Westminster. It looks fairly rural. We need suggestions from anyone who knows the area, both sites and restaurants. We will be there one week. The only thing we know definitely is that we should visit Asheville, which sounds do-able drive wise. (2 hrs.). The guide books highlight Hilton Head, Myrtle Beach and Charleston. Help!!!!!

I am not familiar with Westminister but I looked up the directions and it seems that Hilton Head is about 5 hours, Myrtle Beach is 5.5 hours and Charleston will be a 4.5 hour drive. I am not sure you would want to take a day trip to either of those. You are correct that Asheville is about 2-2.5 hours away and is certainly doable. There are plenty of things to do in Ashville. The Biltmore House is a fantastic place to visit.

We live 3 miles from Clemson University and it is about a 4hr drive to Charleston. Great food, Bed and Breakfasts along with a good aquarium and an interesting I Max on Lewis and Clark. Much history and a great city for walking. It will be cooler in Oct.;a great time to visit.

Greetings from SC! While you are in the area, you should definitely visit Greenville, SC.(about an hour's drive). The Main Street area of downtown is loaded with great restaurants, shops and outdoor events. Some restaurants that I can personally recommend are: Trio's (Italian), Soby's, & Cantinflas (Mexican).

The Peace Center for the performing arts has great entertainment offerings! Here's a link to more info:

If you like waterfalls there are MANY beautiful ones within in a days trip of the tri state area of South Carolina, North Carolina and Georgia.

Issaqueena Falls, Chau-Ram are two that are very near by.

Lake Keowee is beautiful. It is a very clear deep lake nestled in the mountains. About 500 miles of shoreline.

Downtown Greenville is very pretty.

Skip CHS, MB, & HH because the drive is too far.

I have no idea where Westminster is located.

Did anyone notice that Westminster replied to a year-old thread?

The original poster was to be traveling in October of 2003.
