Heading to California on Thursday

Finally getting to go to California......a little later than planned but excited, nevertheless. Flying into SF, renting a car, then heading south to Monterey for 3 days, then down to Paso Robles for 2 days (near Cambria) to see Heart castle, elephant seals, wineries, then over to Yosemite Lodge At The Falls for 2 nights, then back to San Francisco for 4 nights. Tried to reserve a Green Room at Yosemite Lodge but was advised only 2 green rooms on the whole property and none were available. Can anyone recommend a building that has been renovated and is pleasant?. Read a lot of negative comments about old tired rooms. Also, any other suggestions for must see sites or restaurants, would be very welcome. Have booked Alcatraz Tour in SF, Heart Castle in Cambria and planning on the Aquarium in Monterey.

Are you going to Yosemite without reservations. If so, be happy if you get any room, old and tired or not.

Sounds like a great trip, wish I was going. Four days in San Francisco would be fun, we love the Chinatown-North Beach area.
Muir Woods might make a nice half-day trip.
We really enjoyed hiking at Pt. Lobos just below Monterey with its breathtaking views of the Pacific.

I received an email this morning with a promo code for Yosemite Lodge at the Falls but it was only good for 24 hrs. If the nights you are going to be there are Nov. 19 - Nov. 21st. you have to book it tonight to get the great rate of $103.05 plus tax per night.

Promo Code is NOV72

As Michael mentioned, you better grab what ever room you can get. We always book on line and we reserve the type of room we want, but we aren't assigned a room number until check in. If you call for reservations it might be different.

If you want to see coastal redwoods, I'd recommend going to either Big Basin or Henry Cowell State Park on your way to Monterey. I prefer Henry Cowell but Big Basin is very nice, too.
