Group lunch in Ft. Lauderdale

The group will be staying several days at the Pelican Grand Beach. We would like to have a casual lunch off property within walking distance of the hotel. We had lunch at Mango's on our last visit. I would like Fodorites to recommend a casual restaurant which can accomodate a group of fifty to sixty people and provide separate checks. Any suggestions?

I live right down Ocean Blvd from the Pelican Grand. How far are you willing to walk? I think you'd probably have to come as far north as Oakland Park Blvd where the commercial establishments are and in the southern direction as far as Sunrise for the type of place large enough. Hopefully someone may suggest something I have overlooked.

A ten to fifteen minute walk was what I had in mind. We have relatively mixed levels of fitness in the group. I would like to hear any suggestions you have.

My other concern here is that you have 50-60 people and want to find a place that can handle that many people in addition to any lunch crowd they may already, and normally have. And the separate check issue (which perhaps isn't as much of an "issue."

I honestly cannot recommend anything within walking distance that you would probably like and I am sorry I cannot help you further.

Topping this as perhaps someone else down here has some other ideas. Frankly, I think the walking distance is as much an issue as anything.

http://www.biminiboatyard.com/

We had my mother's 90th there and another meal there. People are very helpful and the food is pretty good and it is not expensive at all.

I am not sure how far from your hotel this may be.

Bimini Boatyard..fun place and large enough to handle lots of folks; JMarks on Federal Hwy might be another choice as you could all sit in the covered outside areas if you wanted to.

Bimini Boatyard is not quite five miles from the Pelican.

Oh, and CMC, have no worries about "casual" especially at lunch...prepare for lots of t-shirts, shorts, etc., on other diners.

Does everyone have to eat at the same place? Maybe select 3-4 places and offer a choice to the group?

Regardless, get away from this notion of walking to somewhere unless folks want to walk quite a lot...it is not going to happen.

charsuzan, this is actually a small part of a larger group and yes, the goal is to dine together. We will be there several days so lots of time to try other options as smaller groups.
I will check out the suggestions, thank you very much.
