Get me to Yankee Stadium, please!! In this heat!

Ok, embarrassed to say I live here in Manhattan. Have to go to a game Tuesday night. I know all about the subways so do not need any info on that option. Cannot take the heat..walk to the station is long from where I live. Want to ride in an a/c car, but do not want to drive my own car and deal with parking (ha ha, you say..major first world problem!)

SO: Does UBER go to the stadium from midtown? Or just get yellow cab? I'd love to use Via (highly recommended if you are new to this service) but do not think they go that far. Use my regular service, Allen Car?

Any ideas? S/O just got out of hospital; thinks the train is just fine; grew up outside the stadium, thinks he knows everything about the Yankees(!!) and does not like to spend $$$. At this point I feel almost faint from thinking about the heat in getting there. Do not want to be a flat leaver but need to get there w/o collapsing from the heat.

NYT: You must be an expert on this...anyone who can help me out is thanked much in advance!!

Uber goes where you want. Just prepare for the pricing.

Metro North goes to Yankee stadium from Grand Central though you may have to change trains at 125th Street... not as hot as the subway for sure

Your problem is not getting to the stadium. Uber or any of the regular car services (Dial 7 or Carmel) or even a taxi will get you there.

Your problem is getting home, since you don;t know when the game will end or how long it will take you to get out of the stadium after the game. There are no taxis there so you will either need to call Uber ad hope they don;t decide this is a situation for Surge pricing - or try the car services and just pick a time and place where you know you can get to them.

The traffic at the end of the game is hideous due to the many people taking their own cars (what we do, but we just stay in the stadium a little longer to avoid the worst of the traffic) so it will take a while for anyone to get to you.

Be sure to leave enough time to get to the game (hideous traffic into the parking lots and there is strict security to get into the stadium so that takes a while as well (your purse will likely be searched).

Check the map of the stadium grounds so you know the best place to be dropped off and picked up based on where your seats are. Note that after the game they may well limit access to certain exists.

Leave the game early to make it easier to find your fequested Uber ride. We sid that the other night at Fenway in Boston.
I sympathisize with those oppresively hot subway platforms. Good to avoid them.
When the weather was tolerable, I believe we took a 4 train to Yankee Stadium.

For what it's worth, the subway platforms at Yankee Stadium are open to the air, and the weather is supposed to be cooler tomorrow (though with a good chance of afternoon thunderstorms, a much smaller chance at night).

Metro North is a good option for Yankee Stadium, but it's still a very long walk to the station from the stadium.

Uber is a good way to get TO the stadium, a less good way to get home. I'd spring for Uber to and take the subway back if it were me. If it's a long walk to the subway from your home, then just take the 4 train to Union Square and a taxi from there. (Or the B/D if you live on the west side.)

Too bad the ferry up the East River doesn't run anymore. That would be the perfect solution! We need more water transport in NYC.

YES to the water transport!!

Thanks for all the ideas...maybe I will take UBER and by the end of the game it won't be so hot....Doug's plan.

After the game it just won't be blazing hot so do not mind the train. Just the thought of getting there for what--7pm start? We were gifted some box seats with food in the a/c so that part does not bother me..

Better to take UBER or just get a yellow cab...how much could the cab cost...not more than $30or so, right? All this is probably moot cause partner always takes the train (subway) but I want to be prepared with alternatives! Thanks all..help me out here or I might melt.

If you are coming from Manhattan I'm guessing Uber will be at least $40 and possibly more depending on the service. It's rush hour and you are taking a super far trip. And the cheaper cats will be in Uber Pool then.

Last night, the Yankees actually recommended Uber to get to and from games, so perhaps they have a deal. It's definitely worth checking out.

Super easy and quick to get UBER to drive us home. They wait near the stadium on Jerome Avenue and other nearby streets. Took less than half an hour to get us back to midtown east with a lovely and kind driver. Recommended. The area feels very safe and secure to walk around and if weather was less hot we would have taken the train as we normally do.....

Anyone looking for a good rental area in the NYC area ought not to discount this area...we know it pretty well and it is experiencing an upsurge in "refugees" from higher rent areas in Manhattan and Brooklyn. Quite nice to walk around a bit after the game, around 11pm or so..before calling UBER. No safety concerns whatsoever.

I was wondering if you were caught in that horrendous thunder storm. Otherwise, glad your travel was a success!

Gwendolynn thanks for thinking of us. We did have an hour or so rain delay but were inside in that comfy box area so it passed quickly and without any discomfort. I have to try to find out how much the UBER rides cost if I can figure out a polite way to ask....

Uber rates vary. You may get surge pricing due to demand which can be double the amount. They would sent a receipt to your friend's email almost as soon as you left the car. For example, ne time the trip to dinner mid town was $18 and trip back to Chelsea was $8.
