Fort Lauderdale next week - where to stay, need help ASAP!

Hi, booked 3 night trip for DD and myself a few days ago, our first time staying there. Thought I had a condo at the Hilton thru VRBO but the owner just informed me that his wife had already rented it out! w/o his knowledge so I am scrambling.
I am getting a 4* hotel at Fort Lauderdale beach on Hotwire for Wed & Thursday for $150 per night which is fine but if I include Fri the rate goes up to $187 per night.. Looks like it is the W or the B.
We will not have a car & want to be at the beach, close to shopping & mid-priced restaurants, is this the best area to be in? Any suggestions on where we could move for the 3rd night if there is some other area worth exploring? Don't want it to be too far, the cab ride may not be worth the savings. I am afraid to bid on Priceline in case I get the Hyatt 66 which is not on the beach but is included in the beachfront zone..
Any advice would be appreciated, or should I bite the bullet & just pay the $187 for all the 3 days?
Thanks.

Yes, bite the bullet. $37 is not worth making yourself crazy or moving hotel rooms. At least I wouldn't do it.

I believe the W and the Westin, both Starwood Hotels, are within two blocks of each other. Have you checked on Starwood's website to see what deals they might be offering?

They've had numerous promotions over the last several months that could be interesting. Free extra night, for example.

Even 187 is an excellent rate for that area. I would take it.

Thanks, that's $37 a night but yes, it might not be worth the hassle.Should I stick with this area though?
I did check out Starwood's website & the hotels are still pretty expensive.

Have you priced the hotels "on the beach" (most of them are across the street from the beach)...try the $350/night plus range.
