First time New Orleans/ location of 3 Marriotts

We are taking our first trip to New Orleans in November. I have a choice of the Marriott Hotel, the Coutyard by Marriott (French Quarter, I think) and the Renaissance Pere Marquette. I do not know much about location for a first time tourist. Any feelings from New Orlean experts about which would be the better for a new tourist? Thanks ahead of time.

Any Renaissance is preferable over any Courtyard, and the locations are in the same block.

Pere Marquette is in the CBD, 2 blocks off Canal. Very convenient. Haven't been in the hotel (it used to be an office building).

Marriott Hotel is on Canal, on the FQ side. Typical huge Marriott.

sorry, not sure where the Courtyard is!

Hi Sue, There are at least two Courtyards in N.O. If it is the one right off of Canal, it is a good choice. I have stayed there twice several years ago. Great service and less than a block away from Canal. I have also stayed at the Marriott on Canal. Also fine, but generally more expensive than it is worth in my opinion. Of those two, I would choose the Courtyard. There is virtually no difference in their location to the quarter.

Have fun!

I don't believe there is a Courtyard in the same block as the Renaissance.

My husband and I stayed at the Courtyard on St. Charles Ave. for our first trip last month. It is one block from Canal and, crossing that street, you'll hit Royale. One block north of Royale is Bourbon St., so it was very convenient walk from the Quarter. The other Courtyard location was in the Warehouse district, and I'm not familiar with the Renaissance, but I recomment this Courtyard location.

Oops, I forgot to add that the stop for the streetcar going to the Garden District and Uptown was on the corner right across from the hotel!
