Eatery in NYC
Hi. I'll be working in the city all next week. Any suggestions for a decent pub type eatery in the 1st Ave @ 39th Street area for a bite after work while the traffic thins? Thanks in advance

For just drinks (and maybe a burger) the rooftop bar of the Shelburne Murray Hill hotel has great views. (Lexington & 37 st)
I would go to the Tex/Mex place on 3rd and 38 st. El Rio Grande. They have an outdoor terrace, good margaritas and ok food. But if you're driving, the margaritas might be a bit lethal.
There's a Jackson Hole on 3rd & 35 st for a burger and beer.
Black Sheep at 3rd & 38 st is an Irish bar that has decent reviews on menupages.com

McFadden's 800 Second Ave. at 42nd St. evidently has decent fish and chips.

There are a lot of bars along 2nd ave. Here's another one
Waterfront Ale House
540 Second Ave.
At 30th St.

If you have a car, you might want to drive to the Water Club (get on the FDR going south to 23 st then go back uptown till you hit it) Great views, an outdoor deck and free valet parking.

Lots of pub kind of places and bars and restaurants and fastish food places on 2nd Ave, around 34th and going south. 1st AVe in the area you will be in does not have alot. I would head east toward 2nd or 3rd Ave.
