Driving route from Joshua Tree to Lake Havasu City
Hi, We are driving from Joshua Tree to Lake Havasu City in October and I would appreciate some advice on the best route to take,. Google maps advises CA-62 as the quickest route?
This way looks very quiet. Is it a good road to drive and also are there any stop offs for gas or a break?
Thanks

Either taking I-40 or Hwy 95 will take almost exactly the same time - maybe 15-20 minutes longer via I-40. I'd take 95. It is only a 2.5 hour drive so not much reason to stop.
But if you must -- Parker on 95 or Needles on 40.

So would that mean back tracking to 40 and then turning on to 95. Looking on the map 95 does not seem to go near Joshua Tree. If we did go via 62 what are the problems with this road that we may come across?

No backtracking involved -- assuming you mean from the Joshua Tree Visitors center you'd take
either 62 to Twenty Nine Palms to I-40 to Lake Havasu like this:

or 62 to 95 to Lake Havasu like this:

Neither route is 'attractive'.
