Cripple Creek---Worth it??

While visiting in Colorado Springs, our family would like to see an old mining town/ghost town.

Cripple Creek, while not a ghost town, has a great deal of history behind it. My research indicates that gambling is a big deal now. Are the casinos in the preserved historic buildings, or is CC just tacky?

The old mine tour sounds intriguing, as does the narrow gauge train ride to the ghost town of Anaconda.

Is a trip to Cripple Creek worthwhile, or would we be better off going to St Elmo?

We enjoyed it. We took the Mollie Kathleen gold mine tour.
