We are doing a road trip which will start in the next few days (Help !!) We fly into Seattle and will be spending the next 28 days on this trip first part is Mt Rainer down to the Columbia River Gorge , Boise, Craters of the moon into Jackson for a couple of days so that we can spend time in GTNP before moving up to Yellowstone for 5 days (have rooms in park) next is a night in Cody before we dash down to Keystone SD for 3 nights. question is which would be the best route from Cody to Keystone ??

It's about 400 miles whether you get to I-90l by, from Greybull, going north on 14 or going south on 16. The northern route goes through the pleasing town of Sheridan.

Perhaps the weather at time you make the trip will help you decide. A few years ago, we ran into a snowstorm on 14 in early July.

Cody is a good overnight town w/nightly Rodeo decent restaurants and hotels: I rec the Americinn Inn with big rooms and pool, continenntal breakfast. Bubbas BBQ has a decent slad bar rare in these parts... It is across from a Wal Mart Superstore for stock up..
From Cody on 14 is about an hour, wide open big 2-lane road, mostly boring (there is a resident antelope herd but their coats blend into the background ground cover so you have to keep your eyes peeled, keep your eyes open for police too as this is the strech of road I got my one & only ticket for doing 69mph in a 65 zone ...I had out of state rental car plates) drive to the one stoplight town of Greybull.

The view would be of the Big Horn Mountains. The drive up into the Big Horn Mountains is fun...just outside of Greybull on teh right is a dirt road that leads to one of the best dinosour tracks in the US. It will be hot tho so make sure you have lots of water...BTW you can walk right on the tracks... nxt there is the tiny town of Shell pretty roadside stream, and a nice waterfall stop..then up on to the plateus w/lots of cows free grazing in the beautiful mountain meadows, trees w/moose and roadside signs stating the geological ages and type of rocks.... Pretty drive all the way down the other side into Sheridan a very cute rather big town.. until you join I-90..
