Christmas Dinner in New York City
My husband and I will be flying in to New York City on Christmas day. I would really appreciate suggestions on where we should have dinner that evening. I know NYC never sleeps, but i'm wondering if Christmas day is going to be a challenge.

The traditional dinner out on Christmas is Chinese food, preferably at an upscale restaurant. Make a reservation and you'll be fine. It's a busy night for he restaurants that are open, but here's always something open in NYC. Even on Christmas.

There are plenty of places to have a Xmas meal and it doesn't have to be Chinese or ethnic. What would YOU like? opentable.com will have a list of places right after Thanksgiving but here's what NY Magazine had to say last year http://nymag.com/guides/holidays/69756/

Most places serving a traditional X mas dinner will have a limited number of set seatings - usually at 2 hour intervals and if the food is any good they will sell out - so pick what you want and make reservations right after Thanksgiving.

After years of eating Chinese food on Christmas we have begun to eat Indian restaurants and one year we had Ethopian.
And do not worry about getting a cab from the airport, the majority of cab drivers are Muslims, Hindus, and Sikhs.
And whatever you do, do not go to Rolfs at any time including Christmas week. They are known for the massive epilepsy- inducing red lights and the food is grade level slop.
And whenever possible eat in the residental areas that week. It will be cheaper, usually better, and less cramped than midtown.
