Charleston - Winter advise needed

We will be traveling from a beach city to Charleston the week between Christmas and New Years. I have read a lot of posts here about Charleston, but everyone seems to visit in the summer. Can we expect this to be "slower season" and can we enjoy the same sites during this time of year (other than the beach which is no biggie to us).

In my experience the weather then will be mild, you may need a sweater or light jacket. Charleston is a wonderful destination during the holidays. While the plantations and restaurants will be keeping holiday hours, you will find plenty to do. Enjoy your visit.

Having spent several Christmas holidays in Charleston, I intend to return. We go to Charleston at least twice a year and never tire of it, there is so much to do and see. It is a great city for walking, even in the winter.
Enjoy your trip.

Thanks! We booked a week at the Lodge Alley Inn on East Bay Street. I am looking forward to seeing the area dressed for the Holiday's.

We live in Charlotte and visited Charleston over Thanksgiving a few weeks ago and it was wonderful. Less crowds, the weather was terrific, and it appears as though just about everything was open. We went back in June of last year and it was so hot and humid...I'd take the winter months any day!
