Car rental question
Hi everyone,
I need some help on renting a car in NYC. I am going with my family in June, we are 7, we will be staying in Brooklyn and just need the car to go from there to Connecticut (visit some friends) and then go back to JFK.
Is it possible to pick up the car somewhere in Brooklyn and then drop it off in JFK, before our flight?
We just need it for a day, but I´ve been reading that sometimes is cheaper if you rented on a weekend special than just for a day.
Any recommendations on car rental agencies? I´m on a budget, so the cheaper the better.
Thanks!

Brooklyn is huge - with more than 2 million people - so knowing where you are would help people make recos. You can certainly rent for one day - and I've never seen a weekend in NY being cheaper than a day (that's usually in resort areas).
Prices vary - but you will obviously need a very large vehicle. I would go to kayak.com with your info - includng class of vehicle and see what discounts are available. I would hesitate to use Priceline since you will be very limited in vehicles and some classes may have some that won;t seat 7.
Also, you should know that weekends in NY (if that's what you're doing) - often sell out - so you need to reserve far in advance or you may be shut out. (They sometimes have to have ars driven in from PA when they run out.)

There are vans that seat 7, but to include all the luggage for 7 people going to JFK? You might want to consider renting two mid-sized cars instead.
Avis and Hertz are located in Jersey City, and they might offer pick-up service in Brooklyn.

Renting from Jersey City, with a pick up in Brooklyn, to get to Connecticut just doesn't compute. There are Avis & Hertz locations in Brooklyn.
Google is your friend here.
Enter "Hertz near #### Dean St, 11233" or Avis, or Enterprise, etc.

Picking up in Brooklyn and dropping at JFK should not be a problem - but do check when you reserve to see if there is an extra fee (if they have too many cars at JFK there may be).
If it's going to be 7 people plus a lot of luggage not sure what type or vehicle you can get.
Also - how long have you left for this trip - and where in CT are you going? Depending on the time of your flight out of JFK you might not have much time in CT.

Thanks for your responses! I´m not worry about the luggage since we are traveling very light, two suitcases for all of us. I´m leaving to CT around 8 am, we are going to Trumbull. Anyway, thanks for your suggestions!!

There are no hotels near Dean St. so I'm assuming you're staying hopefully with friends. But if it's a vacation rental (most of which are not allowed in NYC) I hope you haven't wired money for it as that's usually a good sign of a scam.
As for the car rental, If you map the location of where you're staying on maps.google.com and then use the 'search nearby' for car rentals (you type it in the box) you'll see an Enterprise location nearby as well as a Hertz.
I want to warn you the trip between Brooklyn and Trumbull and then back to JFK is more than a daytrip imo. Unless you have a REALLY late flight, doing this trip on the day you're leaving is a really bad idea. You're underestimating traffic delays. Look at a map. Rather than transporting 7 of you, your friends from CT. should come to NYC to see you.

Trumball is nowhere near NYC. Ifyou are visiting friends there you need to alow at least 3 hours to get to JFK - plus the 2 hours you need there to check in. You don;t say what time your flight is but I would leave Trumball at lest 5 hours earlier (more in rush hour).
Also it is likely to take you 2.5 hours from Brooklym to Trumball - again more if you hit rush hour, accident or traffic. Agree you friends from CT should come to visit you - or it wil be a hellish day.
