Boeing tour and train station location

Boeing tour and train station location
While in Seattle we are thinking of taking the Boeing tour, any pros or cons about it? If we stay at a hotel in Pioneer Square will we be within reasonable walking distance to the train station?

Will you have a car to get to the Everett plant or will you need to take a tour that includes transportation? I thought it was an interesting tour; I'm not all that into airplanes/aviation but I still enjoyed it quite a bit. Definitely make reservations if you're going on your own or go first thing in the morning.
Yes, a hotel in Pioneer Square would be reasonably close to the train station but IMO you'd be better off staying in the downtown core and taking a cab.

Husband and I went to Everett a couple of years ago. Both enjoyed the tour. He is a pilot and thought it was great. I just enjoy factory tours and seeing how things are built, so found it interesting.
We went in the morning in July, I think, and it was busy, but not crowded. There were groups coming via a tour bus from Seattle, but we had rental car. I think we made reservations in advance, then arrived early so asked if we could get on earlier tour, but I think it was either full or we were a few minutes too late.

We will not have a car so need to take a tour - any suggestions? I did see a tour company that advertises shuttle bus tours with no more than 14 people, wonder if that would be better than something like Grayline?

If the tour is just going to the Boeing factory, then it doesn't matter who you ride with except a larger tour may stop at more hotels before you hit the road and wait longer in the gift shop to collect everyone to return. Once you are at Boeing, they take everyone into a movie and talk, then take you on tour in preset numbers, the tour groups separate from the individual visitors as a group.
