Best women's dress shop north shore of Boston?

I am looking for a dress for my son's wedding. I have been to bridal shops and didn't see anything that interests me. I want a long dress but not the typical MOB and MOG manufacturers they show in these shops. I don't want glitter, high waisted, beading, tight and clingy, uncomfortable, matronly, stiff and heavy. I am looking for something flattering to my stomach and core which is thicker than I wish. The wedding is in June.

I know about Nordstrom's, Lord and Taylor's and the department store route. i am not too happy about ordering on line lots of dresses and then returning them, even if its to my local store.

I remember back in the day my mother used to have a few dress shops she would go to that had unique and beautiful dresses for special occasions. Do any of these kinds of specialty stores exist north of Boston? Recently I browsed in Newburyport, and I am wondering about Andover, Marblehead or wherever I can find a specialty store with a nice selection and more than a couple of sizes. Hand painted silks is a possibility, something unique . Any suggestions you have, I will certainly consider. I was hoping to do a little shopping this weekend. Thanks.

If you are from the Boston area, you will certainly remember Natalie Jacobson on Channel 5. She always looked terrific, and her clothes (at least back in the day) came from a shop in Salem.

Not much help, but how many high end boutiques can there be in Salem. So it's a start.

PS I remember this because one of my students had a part-time job there.

I don't like anything shiny or frilly either. There is a very low key bridal shop in Arlington called Camilla's that has some really lovely dresses in their windows which I pass almost daily. If I were hunting I'd try there (not North Shore of course)

Thank you. Ackislander, I think that shop which was there forever, Daniel Low isn't in business any longer. I'll check out the other suggestions.
