Best way to go from Whittier to Anc. after cruise.

Will be disembarking at Whittier after our cruise in late May. We would like to take the train to Anc. So far AAA can not tell us any thing about rail schedule or times. We arrive in Whittier, at 12:30 P.M. on the Coral Princess. Any help from past cruisers greatly appreciated

Haven't done it myself but here's the link to the Alaska RR

I saw a note that checked baggage service was not available. If the cruise provides transport to Anchorage, the drive is gorgeous. Keep in mind that there will be plenty of daylight in late May but not sure what you would do in Whittier until departure time. It's the only town in Alaska I wouldn't re-visit.

There is ONLY one train per day, booked with the Alaska RR- 6pm. This allows you to take a fantastic glacier boat tour if of interest. Otherwise, I would not waste my time- hanging out in Whittier. Are you on the first sailing with this ODD time of arrival??? Otherwise, you can disembark from 7am. There is usually also a morning cruise contracted train- about double in price compared to the Alaska RR that does leave in the morning.

Thanks BudgetQueen my mistake, should have read 12:30 A M. We drove the highway last year from Anc, to Seward. So it sounds like the early morning train will be possible. Am a little upset with AAA, for not being able to give me a definite answer on this. I guess its back to planning my own trips.

Why would you even bother with AAA?? Do your homework and get the information direct. With 12:30 am, you will NOT be off your ship much before 7am.

And Princess MAY have a contracted train, or may not that leaves in the morning.
