Beer Drinkin' Places in Southern Utah
Any suggestions on a place to get a cold one in the evenings in Bryce area, Torrey area and Cedar City?
My wife and I are micro/craft brew drinkers. We already have plans to stop at the Zion Lodge (Zion Brewing), Moab Brewing and Eddie McStiff's on our trip.
It doesn't have to be a brewpub (I haven't found any in these cities/towns). Any place that has good/friendly service and decent beer.

Jedi,
I'm a wino myself, and don't care for beer, but I do know the Moab Brewery is a brewpub/restaurant. Can't say about the others.
Torrey is very small and I've never seen a brewery there. If you want "real" beer other than at a brewery, you will need to find a State Liquor Store and buy some there.
Other beer served will be 3.2.

Jedi,
There are St Liquor Stores in St. George, Cedar City and Moab. Nowhere else in southern Ut is listed on the st government site.
The paper did an article a few weeks ago about how crowded the St. george store is - it's the only store in the fastest growing city in the US!!! They are trying to get the state to build another one because people really don't like standing in line for HOURS!
Cedar City and Moab will be your best bets. Or just stock up in LV before you get to UT!

I can't help with the brews but a word of warning. When you order your beer, they will ask you if you'd like to order some chip & salsa or some other cheap snack. Just order it. If you don't, they can't serve you the beer or any other alcholic beverage. It is a Utah law and they aren't even allowed to tell you that. Another legacy of the Latter Day Saints (Mormons).
Here's a site that might help you get a handle of Utah's interesting drinking laws.

Study up and don't get caught off guard.

I'm from the UK, so having difficulty with understanding the gist of this. Are you saying that you can't buy alcohol (beer/wine partiularly) in Utah in shops/supermarkets to take back to your room. If so its important as we will need to rethink what size vehicle we will need to rent from LV to keep us going for 12 days looking at rocks!!! (for info we will be going zion, bryce, page, MV which I know is 'dry' and south rim GC)

Come on you guys, it's not really that hard.
Why do people think it's politically incorrect to bash various religions and ethnicities, but "Mormons" are still fair game?

Planning Ahead,
The link to the state government page I just posted will help you find what you need. Just plan ahead.
Note that St Liquor stores are closed on holidays, Sundays, election days, and all have various, annoyingly odd hours.
If you do bring your booze in from LV, be discreet about it. (In the trunk - "boot" in British). There is a per person limit that can be brought in without "penalty". Not that I know whether the UT Hwy Patrol cares enough to actually enforce this law.

I think you're being a little onerly sensitive Dayle...I simply staled that these drinking laws are "another legacy of the LDS"...is that not true? Hardly a bashing.
I didn't even mention the MMM and have no desire to broach that tender subject here.

Maybe I missed something, but this is the only reference to mormons I see:

Is that what you mean by BASHING??
Like I said, maybe I missed something.

Dayle, I don't think anyone is bashing Mormons. We're talking about a State, not a religion. Remember that little thing called "separation of Church and State".
You have to admit that Utah has one of the most restrictive approaches to alcohol anywhere in the US. Simply put, the State run liquor stores are a joke. The restrictions about their location, the number that can exist per population density, and their hours, not to mention the taxes levied on their products, make them pretty much non-entities. Just look what happens when you cross the Wyoming border.

I was at the St. George liquor store early last Dec. on a Friday and a Sat. night. Prime season for hikers (us). The liquor store was large, and had a very good selection on vino from CA, South America, Europe, etc. I thought the prices and selection were pretty good actually. And there was no line to pay then. It seemed like a pretty normal liquor store. But I didn't pay attn. to beer though as we are vino and liquor drinkers.
