beaufort sc to charleston airport
according to google map, directions from beaufort to charleston airport takes us 21, us 17, sc 61, sc 642 then onto city streets to airport.
do you agree with these directions?
google allows 2 hours for the trip. we must be to the airport by 9:30 am to return the car and board an 11:30 flight to orlando.
do you agree with the timing? what time must we leave beaufort?
thanks lots!

We made this same trip last year.
Take Rt 21 out of Beaufort to US 17 then instead of SC 61 take I-526 directly to the airport. It's about 75 miles some parts of which has relatively low speed limits so allow 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 hours travel time.
How much time you need to allow for check-in at the airport and clear security is your decision. For us - we always use on-line check-in and only do carry-on so we don't need to arrive at the airport 2 hours prior to departure - for us around 60 to 75 minutes prior seems to work well for most airports.
FYI - rental car drop-off is relatively quick and simple at Charleston Airport (assuming you are renting from one of the major "on-site" companies) as the drop-off point is just a few steps away from the terminal entrance (less than a 2 minute walk). For our trip we were at the gate in less than 20 minutes after arriving at the airport.
