August getaway in California. OR, WA
Hi Everyone,
Greetings From Newport Beach, CA
Any ideas for a well travelled couple, wanting to plan a 3 day weekend ( Thursday-Sunday)Something nearby in the Orange County area ,drive or less than 2 hour flight, cozy town w/bed and breakfast and good food in town, a "get away" type resort, a lakeside cottage or resort or bed and breakfast lakeside in Oregon or Washington or CA??

MichelleY, LOL .. I am going to fly to Reno and go to Lake Tahoe in August. I am likely going to take a day trip to Yosemite as well.
OP/Wfuld. Look into Jet Blue from Long Beach for decent fares to Reno/Tahoe. There is a plethora of places to stay.

Thanks everyone, but I am looking for specific Recommendations based on my above request. Need suggestions for Resort, Cabins, ..Need place with upscale dining in a town that is quaint etc...on the water. I know tough request. The couple is well Travelled, so trying to come up with something different and unigue in CA, Washington State or Oregon. thanks,

hpeabody: Down 395 into Yosemite from S. Lake Tahoe is close to a 5 hour drive. And if you are starting from another part of the Tahoe basin it is even longer. Driving 10 hours would be awful -- you don't want to be driving back in the dark.

A two hour flight limit eliminates Oregon and Washington, or any place in California that requires a plane change.
What about something like a "staycation" in, say, San Diego, or maybe something up by Big Bear or Lake Arrowhead?

I'm sure MichelleY and hpeabody meant '395 and over Tioga Pass' . . . which would be understood. Still isn't a day trip though (unless one just meant Tuolumne Meadows and not in to Yosemite Valley - and even that would be a pretty long day)
