What types of activities interest you, your family and friends?
What age group are you?
What's your dollar budget for accommodations?
What is your definition of a "good place to stay" - are you a Motel 6, type of person or do you prefer something more along the lines of a Ritz Carlton?
Just how "long" is your "long weekend"? It's about a 6 hour drive between Atlanta and Myrtle Beach - how much time do you want to spend seeing things "on the way" to Myrtle Beach - 1 hour, 1/2 day, full day, more than a day????

Your post is very confusing.

Atlanta to Myrtle Beach is less than 6 hours. Most people just drive all the way. If you leave by 9 in the morning you will be there by 3 in time to check into your hotel. Leave earlier if you want to stop and eat along the way.

Why do you want to stop and stay somewhere else between Atlanta and MB? There is not much of interest in between. You could spend the night in Charleston. That would be a short detour but there's a lot to do in the area.

Go, get to the beach, settle in and have a short time there before you have to leave and come back again.
It' going to be a hotel of some kind and it is a busy holiday.
You'd better start looking now.
