Do you mean Hot Springs National Park "village" in Arkansas?

Your post doesn't let us know which state.

Anyhow - if so, last year we found a lot of the actual spa buildings closed under renovation, or not included on the national parks "free tour".

The town itself had some okay walks, but pricy, and touristy. Depends what you like I guess.

Yes, she means Hot Springs Village, which is a gated golf course community about fifteen miles northwest of Hot Springs (town/national park). And I live there. Are you talking about touring the Village or the HS area? The Village is really a half-day drive to see the 8 golf courses, lakes, community center, churches, etc. and the HS area can take as long as you want. I wish I were going to be here over Labor Day so I could show you around, but we'll be in Alaska. You can contact me at [email protected] for more information.

I'm so sorry that I missed your earlier post directed to me! We were gone on an extended trip to the southwest and I just hadn't checked the Arkansas postings lately.
I answered some of your questions earlier but will add that I hope you enjoy your trip here. We're originally from Nebraska and had lived in New Orleans and Texas for 20+ years so didn't want to go back to winter, but wanted trees and hills. This is a perfect place for us. We live on DeSoto golf course (4th hole, 2-story gray house on the corner) and keep a boat on Lake Ouachita. We have 18+ churches here which are important to Village life, but also have every club and organization there is: Rotary, Kiwanis, AAUW, PEO, etc. Lots of music and drama groups, huge bridge playing group, many traveling music and theater programs, Little Rock symphony, etc. My husband takes photography classes for free at the community college in HS. Thousands of volunteer hours are given to the area by HS residents. Be sure to buy a copy of the Village Voice, the weekly paper while you're here, to get an idea of all the activities.
People in the Village never age! I think it's such a healthy lifestyle with so many activities and a really happy place to live. I hope we can meet sometime when you come down--as I said in earlier post, we'll be in Alaska over Labor Day. But please write me at [email protected].

Forgot to answer your question about the blues festival. I think you mean the one at Magic Springs, the amusement park in Hot Springs. We have season tickets for the park (includes 12 free concerts, including LeAnn Rimes, Styx, Tracy Byrd) but will be in Alaska then. It's a very nice park--not too big, very clean--and I think you'd enjoy the festival there.
