Any ski resorts open right now in WI or MI?
I'd like to go boarding this week but small resorts (Wilmot, Alpine, Crystal) in S. Wisconsin seem to be closed, although it seems cold enough today to start making snow.
Is there a resort you know of that's open and driveable from Chicago?

I believe that Grand Geneva is open.

Have you looked at Devil's Head or Cascade Mountain? Cascade would be a little bit closer, but Devil's Head is probably better. Both websites say they're open.

thanks so much -- think we'll try to check out Cascade. I'm a little surprised at how expensive lift tickets are! These aren't real mountains, right? But I guess the operating costs are real.

The former Rib Mountain (now Granite Peak --www.SkiGranitePeak.com) in Wausau is advertising as open. Wausau area information could provide you details. It is listed as 3.5-4 hours of driving from Chicago, but the roads are excellent (and NOT tollway like IL). The runs are usually better and longer than those resorts you mentioned, but nothing compares to skiing in western US. We have liked Rib Mountain better than Cascade over the years since Rib seemed to have more snow making equipment if needed. There is a terrain park and half-pipe for happy boarding! Enjoy!
