Any sign of spring in your hometown?

Here in the Mid Atlantic states it is still very winter like. It will get warm today, maybe 60 degrees, but it is supose to be in the 30s for the rest of the week- after a strong cold front.

Our grass is brown, there are no buds on the trees, no flowers yet, nothing other than longer days tell us spring is just days away.

How about your home town? Any sign of spring in the USA--outside of Florida, California or Arizona?

Here in Boston, I can't even tell what color my grass is, it's under a couple of feet of snow. We've hardly gone above freezing in weeks and weeks, but today we're supposed to finally hit 40 and get some melting. Spring seems very far away.

Daffodils! Crocuses! Redbuds budding! Forsythia! 70 degrees today, thunderstorms tonight and tomorrow.

Yep, spring's here in NC, and this is the month I'm particularly grateful to have moved south from the snow belt.

Central Indiana the grass is greening up a little. I have daffodil leaves up about 4 inches but no sign of blooms. I haven't seen the crocuses bloom. They're always the first to arrive.

60 degrees yesterday, down to 18 tonight. Spring isn't all the way here yet.

Western Washington skipped winter this year, which will be devastating to the snow pack (as it has been for the local ski areas). We've had warm weather, buds, bulbs and POLLEN for weeks now.

Our yard is full of daffodils, forsythia, and the first Dutch iris (the blue looks so pretty with the yellow daffodils).

Our tulip tree (Japanese magnolia?) is in full bloom, and the dogwood buds are beginning to swell.

Spring (let's hope it's really here) is glorious in Alabama!

1st signs of spring-buds on my beloved japanese maple; Tasty Treat and Faery's nursery, an ice cream stand and nursery, which I pass on my way to work each day both opened for the season. I dread the days they close, knowing the days get longer and colder, and love the days they open, knowing it's still light out when I drive home, and soon, Spring will be here. No sign of my spring flowers or grass-too much snow on the ground!

Chicagoland was marvelous yesterday and today I do see the very first crocus emerging and also the break-thru of hyacinths shoots on campus.

Yesterday was so nice that we (just the two of us and no grandkids this time) picked up and went to the Brookfield Zoo. We are zoo members and go often, but usually never spur of the moment. From 12 to 3:30pm or so- we walked the entire huge zoo, all the way out to the Buffalo and Camel, (far end) which we seldom include as the entire thing is about a 2 or 3 hour hike.

Payton was a cub last time (Polar Bear) and in just this short time, he is already almost as big as his mother.
Many trees have not yet begun to develop a good bud- but the sights were spectacular, regardless. Our baby gorilla is 5 months old and walking away by herself. Merkats are fiesty. The big cats were all out sleeping on their various mountains/rocks habitats- lying in the sun. Two largest walrus were doing the same, and looking like they were on a tropical beach. They are seldom out of their lagoon.

Our grass is still brown and I suspect we will get a few more coatings of snow-but all told this was another fairly easy winter in Chicago. Some people are rushing the season, however, as I did see some shorts. A little premature- but you could definitely leave your coat at home or in the car, yesterday.

This week if it holds up, I am going to plant some glad. bulbs that require a March planting. Time for a garden pick up and cut down pretty soon now- and also have to crunch down the dead leaves on my clemetis vines before the buds start to take off. When the early red tulip burst open, then I know Spring is in full blast. I would say that it will take at least 3 more weeks before we see the first of that occurance.

Love each and every stage of nature's drama, and when you get a gift like yesterday- it is taken and appreciated en mass. Everyone at the zoo yesterday was smiling ear to ear.

Upstate New Yorker here. Sunny today, but clouds are due to move in with snow expected every day this week. The only sign of Spring here is the arrival of shorts and t-shirts at Old Navy.

We had our first taste of spring here yesterday in Ann Arbor, MI but it won't last! It was near 50 and sunny - so beautiful to be outside. But thunderstorms rolling in today are bringing a cold front (or I suppose it's really the cold front bringing the storms!) and we'll be down in the mid-teens tonight and single-digits tomorrow night.

Just hoping for a showing of crocus greenery soon since much of our snow has melted this weekend.

I'm in Portland, OR with mms, where some have already moved past spring. Yesterday neighborhood kids had already set up their lemonade stand. Must be getting the fruit from S. America though; prices have almost doubled since last summer.

My azaleas and the fact that it has been in the 70s frequently lately.

I can tell by the shadows, the birds, and the 'feel' of Spring.

Crocuses have bloomed here in KC. Dafodils are up, and just ready to bloom. Maple and dogwood trees have buds. It shouldn't bee too long now. I usually put a first cut on the lawn around St. patrick's day...it's looking good again this year. Bring on the GREEN!!!

Winter, what winter? It's felt like spring for months in Denver. We've had plenty of snow in the mountains, but Denver is warm and dry. Time to drag the hose around and water the trees. Our flowers came up a couple of weeks ago. Trees starting to bud. This is when we pray for no heavy spring snow in town, as it breaks budding tree limbs.

Hello from Austin, Texas - first sightings of our beloved bluebonnets yesterday. With all the rain we've had, it should be a great year.

Happy travels!

Chicago:

Yesterday we washed all the cars and picked up the yard. Daffodils and some early tulips starting to peek out. Hit 63 officially.

Tonight going down to 15 with wind chills tomorrow in the single digits.

Now where was that person looking at Chicago or Boston in March?
