Alamo car rental in LAS

We have a very cheap reservation with Alamo, but I hear the pick up service is very slow.
Does anyone has recent experience with the Alamo car rental in Las Vegas airport?
Thanks,

We rented there on a trip about four years ago and the wait was huge, we got there about 6pm on a friday night and waited at least an hour for a counter person.

Since then they bought, or where bought, by National and I had a horrible experience at National last time we went.

If you were talking about pick up service from the curb, it just depends on when the last bus left. The National and Alamo are on the same bus.

If price is a consideration they will be alright. I also saw good rates from Thrifty, but have never rented from them.

Good luck.

Rented from Dollar at LAS. WHen we dropped off the car we got the shuttle to the terminal. The driver explained that they were short drivers that shift and he was the only one. When we pulled up to the terminal, there was a line of what looked to be 50+ people waiting for the shuttle which probably held 15 per trip. What a nightmare for those poor folks. Maybe it was just a fluke...

Use the kiosks to bypass the counter. I believe you can only do this by registering and making the reservation through their website.

It seems that renting a car from Alamo, National, Dollar can turn to a nightmare.

Anyone can recommend a car rental company in LAS which has the least painless procedure?

I have actually rented from Hertz with no problem. I usually check their last minute specials for a good rate. Had a car last year for $18 a day. Yes it was a compact, but at least it fit in every parking space.

I am using them again in July. Let's hope is still easy. I had stopped at the counter while baggage was coming down and picked up bag and off I went.

When we were out there in Dec., rented from Alamo and had no problems. Had reservations going in, easily caught the shuttle, and on arrival at the lot, were allowed to pick out our own car from the class we rented.

It was a slow period in Las Vegas, so that may have contributed to everything going smoothly. The Alamo/National operation is combined. One caveat: When returning the car, make sure you carefully follow the directions on the map. The location is not with the other rental agencies, and there are one-way streets that must be navigated with care.
